For this design, I was asked to create a fictitious magazine using grids and guides along with page and paragraph styles. We needed to include a cover, table of contents, and a 6 page article. I chose a trip I was planning to Oregon to come up with content for my design. I wanted a magazine that would be hard to walk past by choosing beautiful imagery and a catchy title. For color scheme, I planned to have a fluid color scheme that would be complimentary based on the imagery used for the cover. For fonts I chose some that would be easily readable. Body copy being san-serif and my title and headers being serif. I created the magazine in InDesign and edited all the images in Photoshop to make them stand out.
Below I have included the complete spread. This was one of my favorite projects, I love the different skills need to create something I find beautiful.
I was welcomed to the AAF-ND’s (American Advertising Federation of North Dakota) annual American Advertising Awards Show at the Avalon Center in Fargo. The annual event honors excellence in the fields of advertising and design for both professionals and students throughout North Dakota and the FM area. I was awarded the silver ADDY award for my cover/editorial spread/article which was this magazine, Wander.
