In 2007, I took up airbrush painting which I did prior to graphic design. I have always enjoyed the feel of physical painting. There is an organic feeling to it. For this design, I was asked to create an image of cows. I was not given a direction other than that. I decided to create an image of her being the front cow, and the 3 behind her are her children. The cow in the far back I created as a symbol of her father who passed away overlooking her and her children.
Below are a few progress shots of my painting process. I start with the background and work my way forward. I use paper masks to make it easier to create outlines of the cows to make it easier to paint them. You may be able to see my reference photo in the back which I created in Adobe Photoshop.
